Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Announces $335 Million in Grants To Improve Teacher Effectiveness

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded $335 million in grants designed to change the manner in which schools recruit, train, and incentivize their teachers. While no Washington schools received grant money, school districts in Memphis, Pittsburgh, and Hillsborough County, Florida, as well as charter schools in Los Angeles will receive funds. Hillsborough County drew what is reported to be the largest award ever given by the Foundation to a single school district: $100 million.
